Gold Canyon, Arizona is an unincorporated community located 45 minutes east of the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport off Rte. 60 East, beyond Apache Junction at the foot of the beautiful Superstition Mountains. The community is made up of year-round residents as well as seasonal "snow-birds" - visitors who come to the Gold Canyon area to escape the snow and cold of their full-time homes.
Surrounded by the breathtaking views of the Superstition Mountains, Gold Canyon offers a quiet desert lifestyle, yet is just fifteen minutes from the Superstition Springs Mall area with shopping, restaurants and movies. An ever-increasing number of services, shops and restaurants are developing within Gold Canyon itself. Gold Canyon has seen tremendous growth in the past five years; however, future growth is limited due to the neighboring Superstition Wilderness State Preserve and Tonto National Forest.
If you love the outdoors, then Gold Canyon is for you. Hiking and biking trails abound. Horseback riding in the Superstitions is unparalleled. Nearby Canyon Lake is a boater's paradise. If you like to golf, you have definitely come to the right place. Gold Canyon Resort offers two fabulous public golf courses, plus MountainBrook Village Golf Course in the "active adult community." If you are looking for a private country club, there's the famous Lyle Anderson/Jack Nicklaus Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, home to the 2002 Countrywide Tradition and the 2002 Senior Slam. Superstition Mountain offers two 18-hole Championship layouts and quality facilities second to none.
With gorgeous views, serenity of a desert lifestyle, outdoor activities and convenience to all that the city of Phoenix has to offer, Gold Canyon is the location of choice.
